  • Aarushi Charitable Trust (ACT) for Children has been actively promoting access to basic and formal education for children. Additionally, it helps makes the children and their families aware about important health and social issues by working directly with them in their settlements, such as slum areas in cities and in villages.

    Our Vision:

Our vision is to have a society where no child is deprived of their basic human rights, most importantly access to proper health and education, due to lack of facilities or due to financial constraints.

    Our Mission:

Our mission is to promote knowledge and education; provide vital information for the promotion of health and prevention of diseases; and increase awareness on important social issues.

    Activities we do:

    1. Academic Activities
      • Remedial Classes for underprivileged children in Shrifabad, Rajpur, Farrukhnagar Dist. Ghaziabad. A batch of 35 children from grade 1-5 every year get benefited from these classes.
      • “Aarushi Bal Vatika” (Balvadi) is being run for children of age group 3 to 6 years to prepare them to start attending regular school. Classes are run for three hours in the morning six days a week since 2007 in Shankar Camp and Israeli Camp in Rangpuri Pahari, Vasant Kunj.
      • "Non Formal Education" (NFE) center, is run for children 6-14 years of age to support education to non-school going children, who were either dropouts or never went to school. Our teachers work with these children to prepare them for admission in regular schools. "Remedial Coaching Classes" are run for children 6-14 who attend regular schools and are not able to perform in class appropriately in these schools.
      • Meritorious and need based scholarships for 15 children annually in rural schools. The scholarships are given to children in classes 6-8. This has prevented several poor but meritorious children to drop out from schools.
      • Books and stationery are provided free of cost to the children.
    2. Non Academic Activities
      • Street plays in order to promote the artistic talent of the children and make them and their community aware of social issues.
      • Outdoor visits to historical places to promote the idea of ‘learn with fun’.
      • Celebrations for Independence Day, Republic Day and Children’s Day.
      • Bal Panchyats and Parent Teacher meetings are occasionally held by our teachers to discuss the challenges of children and work accordingly with them to overcome these.
      • Door to door campaigns by our teachers to identify and motivate new children to join and participate in these events.
      • Distribution of sweets and clothes on the occasion of some major festivals and sweaters once a year before winters to children coming to our two centres.
